Day Two: Fluidity, Color
Today's Artist: Jorge Arévalo
Arévalo's Focus: Fashion and lifestyle portraits; editorial and agency work.
Style Summary (my take): Stretchy French folks on bicycles. Large swaths of bright colors. Exaggerations and eccentric details. Strong sense of movement, like someone is forever being whisked away or absconding with something.
What I Decided to Draw: Athletes. Fancy, fabulous, flamboyant, fashion-forward footballers. (Possibly zero footballers, I just really wasn't willing to break with the alliteration there.)

Quick Sketch #1: José Bautista
Playing around, just starting to dip my toes in. Early early draft.
Initial thoughts: No idea why I ever draw anything other than exaggeratedly jaunty hips and tailored suits.

Kobe
Main struggle: Don't know what to do with myself when I can't use outlines.

Bautista Get Punched
I started drawing Bautista (Toronto Blue Jays, favorite of moms everywhere) before he tripped a guy and got punched in the face, but then he tripped a guy and got punched in the face, so I started playing around. This is, stylistically, not even a little bit like what I was aiming to work with this week, but I got really into villainous line-work and am pretty excited about the result, so hey. Experimentation gets ya places.

Don't judge me; I'm learning. This is not a good advertisement for Wacom tablets.

Prognosis: Serena is a queen. This style is not my forte. Time to move on.
